Bishop David Oyedepo, the esteemed founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (also known as Winners Chapel), has openly shared a profound vow he made early in his spiritual journey: building 1,000 churches before departing this life.
During one of his recent sermons, Bishop Oyedepo recalled the humble beginnings of his ministry. He disclosed that his aspiration to expand the House of God began when financial comfort was still a distant dream.
“Before I even opened my first bank account, I prayed, ‘Jesus, if You ever bless me, let me be involved in building new churches,’” he recounted.
He then asked his congregation with a smile, “How many of you have heard this before? You seem to know just about everything.”
Expressing the depth of his devotion, Oyedepo explained that his ultimate aim is to establish a legacy of faith through service and church growth.
“I told Jesus, I do not wish to enter heaven without 1,000 churches established in Your name,” he affirmed, underscoring his unwavering commitment to spiritual expansion.
The Bishop went further, urging his congregation to assess their own willingness to serve. Using relatable examples, he highlighted that many in the church have resources they could use to advance God’s work—yet often leave them untapped.
“Some of you have buses sitting idle on Sundays, yet you hesitate to use them—even when a little fuel could make a real difference,” he noted. “If it’s truly in your heart, act on it.”
Drawing his message to a close, Bishop Oyedepo challenged believers to take spiritual responsibility and reflect on their role in God’s mission:
“It’s time to wake up. Can I tell you something? Each person reflects the environment he belongs to. Start showing what you have learned here.”
Bishop Oyedepo’s heartfelt message encouraged both reflection and action, reminding listeners of the lasting impact that comes from dedicating one’s resources and life to a higher purpose.
